A leadership approach grounded in three principles:
1. Highly adaptive people create highly adaptive organizations.
2. An organization's growth is derived from the personal and professional growth of its team members.
3. Fostering resilience and well-being among employees is a critical leadership competency.
James (Jay) McGinnis, is a thought leader and industry expert in resilience and positive team dynamics within organizations that operate in complex, high-stress/high-stakes domains.
A former detachment medic with the United States Army Special Forces, an emergency medicine Physician Assistant and former Special Operations Medical Officer with the United States Special Operations Command, Jay spent more than 20 years building and leading teams that both conducted and supported high-risk/high-stakes missions. After retiring from the military, he served as the program director for Health Intervention and Disaster Response at The George Washington University and as a director of mid-level providers for Johns Hopkins Emergency Medical Services.
In addition to his leadership background, Jay holds a doctorate in human and organizational learning from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Drawing from both his professional and academic background, Dr. McGinnis has developed the framework of Resilience-Centered Leadership. An outgrowth of the theoretical foundations of transformational leadership and positive organizational behavior, Resilience-Centered Leadership represents a novel approach to change management and organizational performance that places strategic value on the development of a resilient and adaptive workforce.
